All options on the table if Israel does not deliver on Gaza pledges: EU's Kallas
All options are on the table if Israel does not deliver on its pledges to facilitate humanitarian aid in Gaza, the European Union's top diplomat said on Tuesday. "The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible," EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas wrote in a post on X, adding that she spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar "to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that IDF must stop killing people at distribution points." Earlier this month, Kallas said Israel had agreed to expand humanitarian access to Gaza, including increasing the number of aid trucks, crossing points and routes to distribution hubs. "All options remain on the table if Israel doesn't deliver on its pledges," Kallas said.

All options on the table if Israel does not deliver on Gaza pledges, EU's Kallas says
BRUSSELS (Reuters) -All options are on the table if Israel does not deliver on its pledges to facilitate humanitarian aid in Gaza, the European Union's top diplomat said on Tuesday. On Monday, two dozen Western countries called for Israel to immediately end its war in Gaza and criticized what they described as "inhumane killing" of Palestinians, saying it was "horrifying" that more than 800 civilians had been killed while seeking aid. Israel's foreign ministry called Monday's statement "disconnected from reality" and said it would send the wrong message to Hamas. Gaza health officials have said more than 59,000 Palestinians have died during the 21-month conflict in Gaza. The war began when Hamas-led militants stormed into Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli tallies. Five civilians killed in Ukrainian attacks on buses – officials (PHOTOS)
At least five civilians have been killed and several others injured in a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on vehicles in Russia's Kherson Region over the past 24 hours, according to regional officials. On Monday, Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo said three civilians were killed when a Ukrainian drone struck a private bus in the Golopristansky district in the region's south. He added that three more civilians were 'gravely injured' and were taken to a local hospital. In another incident in the same district, Saldo said an artillery shell hit a passenger car, injuring two civilians, who were also hospitalized. Two more civilians were wounded in the town of Nova Kakhovka to the north of Golopristansky district, in what Saldo described as a 'terrorist attack' that struck another civilian vehicle. Separately, the city administration of Nova Kakhovka said a minibus was damaged in a Ukrainian drone strike, with two people dying at the scene. Another victim of the strike was hospitalized, officials said, releasing a picture of a badly damaged vehicle, with a blurred body lying on the ground nearby. Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of attacking civilian targets in frontline areas. In February, officials in Russia's Zaporozhye Region reported that a school bus was attacked by a Ukrainian drone, injuring the driver and five children. In November, local authorities said four people were killed and 17 injured when a Ukrainian artillery strike hit a passenger bus in Kherson Region.

How did a Bangladesh air force fighter jet crash into a school campus?
NEW DELHI, July 22 (Reuters) - At least 25 children were among the 27 people killed when a Bangladesh Air Force plane crashed into a college and school campus in the capital city of Dhaka on Monday. Here is a look at what happened. The fighter aircraft took off at 1:06 p.m. (0706 GMT) from the air force base in Dhaka's Kurmitola for a routine training mission, but experienced a mechanical failure soon after. The pilot attempted to divert the aircraft away from densely populated areas to minimize civilian casualties and damage, but his efforts were unsuccessful and the jet crashed into a building. The two-storey building that the plane rammed into belonged to the Milestone School and College in Dhaka's Diabari area, located about 10 kilometres (six miles) from the air force base. Visuals from the scene showed the mangled remains of the aircraft dented into the side of the building, dismantling its iron grills and creating a gaping hole in the structure. The bodies of at least 27 people, including 25 children, a teacher, and the jet's pilot, were pulled out from the debris. More than 100 children and 15 other people were also injured, of whom 78 are still admitted in hospitals with burn injuries. The jet was an F-7 fighter aircraft - the final and most advanced variant in China's Chengdu J-7/F-7 aircraft family, according to Jane's Information Group. Bangladesh had signed a contract in 2011 for 16 such planes, and deliveries were completed by 2013. The Bangladesh Air Force has formed a high-level investigation committee to probe the cause of the accident. Muhammad Yunus, the head of the country's interim government, has also vowed to "take all necessary measures" to investigate its cause. In the meantime, the government says it is providing "all kinds of assistance" to those affected.
